Where does the UK’s leading jazz saxophone player go when he needs a new website? Jazzbones, naturally.
Simon Spillett is a jazz renaissance man. He plays in his own quartet. He plays with a big band. He produces records. He teaches. He writes biographies. He comperes. He writes sleeve notes. He’s a blogger.
However, for all these varied skills, he identifies most strongly as a powerfully swinging, straight-ahead tenor saxophonist, one capable of taking the audiences who hear him on a rollercoaster ride encompassing everything from energetic bebop to heartfelt balladry.
If the Jazzbones design for Simon’s website looks familiar it’s because we have been inspired by the legendary jazz album covers of the 1950s and 1960s, especially the wonder that is the graphic design for the iconic Blue Note sleeves of John Coltrane, Art Blakey, Jimmy Smith, Wayne Shorter and a long etcetera.
Like the Blue Note designs, Simon’s new website which was designed for our digital partners at Reuben Digital, plays with icons and shapes to create cool geometric patterns, while the use of a fresh green palette with black and white images gives the whole show a contemporary yet timeless feel.
Jazzbones has a long-standing working partnership with Reuben Digital, experts in website development and other bespoke digital solutions, including eCRM, eCommerce, database development, systems integration, SEO management, cloud hosting services and app development. Bringing our respective expertise to the table, Reuben develops and we design!
Thanks to that partnership, Simon now has a mobile-friendly website with all the up-to-date information on his live appearances, recordings and writing. A nice, jazzy job from the Jazzbones design team and a real labour of love for Jazzbones founder Nathan Sandhu and Reuben founder Ray Stephens, two lifelong jazz aficionados!
