Jazzbones have worked with the PR arm of business news website Business Biscuit for several years now, so their team have seen first-hand how we develop great ‘news’ websites like Wigwam and Visit Swindon and how we specialize in growing our platforms’ audiences with smart digital strategy and cutting-edge design and content.
So when it came to updating the outmoded Business Biscuit website who better to turn to than Swindon’s leading brand and digital agency?
From the outset it was clear that the client didn’t want to lose the journalistic character of their brand – Business Biscuit is a news website but also a highly regarded weekly e-newsletter; but what they needed was for us to both reimagine the look and feel of their previous site and translate its complex architecture into a modern front end which is easily understandable for users.
We built the new website using Open Source CMS, transferring 4,000+ archive news stories onto the new site so Business Biscuit didn’t lose any of their SEO capability or their clients’ stories.
In fact, one of our key tasks was to improve Business Biscuit’s performance in the search rankings and by making the site easier to find, make it a better outlet for their sponsors and advertisers. We did this by using industry-leading SEO techniques and methodologies, and given the client’s investment and preferred autumn launch date, we had plenty time to finesse this and other aspects of the site.
One of the other goals was to make the new website user-friendly and mobile-first, given that is how so many of its users read Business Biscuit, whether via organic searches or through the weekly e-newsletter or social media.
The other important factor was to make the site easier for the Business Biscuit team to manage and maintain, giving them more chance to do what they do best - write great business news stories and build relationships with their clients.
Needless to say, the new website is not only user-friendly but it’s also great to look at with its striking new biscuit logo, handsome maroon and mustard yellow colour palette, and secondary colours for different categories like property, appointments, community, motors and expert opinion.
Summing up, Business Biscuit now have a fit-for-purpose, modern website to accompany them on their journey as they look to take their platform to the next level. That means providing existing advertisers with a tangible upgrade and even more exposure, while expanding into different regions beyond their original Swindon and Wiltshire remit. Business Biscuit have got ambitious plans and thanks to Jazzbones they’ve now got the website to go with it.
