In recent years, Jazzbones have realized a wide range of successful projects for our local authority Swindon Borough Council (SBC), not least as the creators, designers and content managers of the Visit Swindon website and social media campaigns.
Visit Swindon’s mission is to highlight why out-of-town visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to entertainment, shopping, outdoor activities, heritage, sporting facilities and nightlife. The fact-filled website recently celebrated a hugely successful first year attracting virtual traffic to the site and real footfall to Swindon and the surrounding area.
It is testament to our ability to fulfil a brief on message, on time and on budget that SBC continues to welcome our tenders for communications and marketing campaigns, both large and small.
It is also true that after several years working closely with SBC, the Jazzbones team are familiar with the internal dynamics and needs of distinct council departments, which gives us the ability to be extremely agile and flexible when dealing with briefs. It is further testament to our expertise that the council turns to us for support on challenging projects despite the fact it has its own in-house digital team.
As Councillor Oliver Donachie, Cabinet Member for Economy & Place puts it succinctly: “I am really happy with what is being achieved with the Visit Swindon website. Great work by my officers and Jazzbones!”
Other digital campaigns delivered by the Jazzbones team for SBC satellites include branding and digital marketing for Tech Swindon, whose mission is to strengthen the burgeoning tech ecosystem in Swindon, and a website and social media for Wichelstowe, South West England’s biggest and boldest new housing development.
Jazzbones’ latest collaboration with our local authority is as prime movers behind the creation of the Swindon Tourism Group, alongside representatives like GWR, the Brunel Centre Shopping Centre, Swindon Speedway, Swindon Wildcats, Steam Museum, the Designer Outlet, Blunsdon Hotel, Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Jurys Inn, Helen Browning’s Organic’s and Wyvern Theatre.
According to statistics from Visit England, the South West represents the highest proportion of all English regions for domestic overnight trips, 19% of total trips, and 23% of spend, in 2015 – 19.7 million trips and £4.4 billion in spend.
Currently Swindon is miles away from attracting its fair share of that tourism pie. The goal of the new Swindon Tourism Group is to bring together all the town’s major players to develop a strategy that positions Swindon as an alternative or compliment to neighbouring cities like Bath or Oxford when it comes to leisure and days out.
The Jazzbones team are proud of our hometown and it is a privilege to work extensively with our local authority. From Swindon Borough Council’s perspective, they get the same level of expertise and excellence they would get from a big city agency, but without the inflated big city budgets or egos.
