Following the success of our recent internal communications projects for Honda, the Japanese car giants asked us to create a cross-media recruitment campaign as they continue to invest massively in their global production hub in Swindon, a town with a proud tradition of car manufacturing.
Producing 600 cars every day takes a whole lot of manpower and a massive amount of recruitment, so getting an inspirational message across to prospective employees is crucial. Our attention-grabbing campaign for Honda is based on inspiring people to join the company with the idea of how the great cars they create in Swindon will be used every day by people all over the world.
The first rollout of this innovative concept imagines the A419 route from Swindon to America’s legendary Route 66. The second features the Land of the Rising Sun. “Wherever in the world our new Civics go, they’ll have started out in Swindon. That puts our associates in the driving seat for everything from school runs in the USA to commuter journeys in Japan.”
The planned quarterly campaign will feature even more destinations for the new Honda Civic and Honda Civic Type R, both produced in Swindon and exported worldwide.
Visually, the Swindon references evoke fresh hills and iconic trees on the Marlborough Downs, while the global aspect picks out shades of deserts and the pinks of the cherry blossom tree.
Although primarily designed for Social Media recruitment, the ‘Wherever in the world’ concept will also be used across posters, recruitment fairs and shows, and also be rolled out via Honda’s UK recruitment agencies.
Honda are delighted with the sleek, contemporary style of illustration created by Jazzbones for this major recruitment campaign. The use of flat graphics within illustration gives the visuals a cutting-edge feel, but at the same time is a natural evolution from previous campaigns. Honda love bright and bold colours and with that core aesthetic in mind we delivered an exciting and fresh finish which works equally well on Social Media or print rollout.
